James M. Luts is truly a master craftsman. He is the
grandson of John L. Luts, Sr. who started the family painting and contracting
business in 1938. James began his apprenticeship with his father, John
L. Luts, Jr. in 1966 where he was taught the art of mixing colors from
scratch, hanging the finest hand-printed wallcoverings from Europe as
well as graining, antiquing and marbleizing. In addition, he has expertise
in all forms of general contracting. In 1971 he became full partner with
his father; later in 1977 the Luts Paint Center, a complete paint and
wallcovering store was opened and run in conjunction with the contracting
business. After becoming sole proprietor of the paint and contracting
business in 1978 he was elected treasurer of the Morris-West Essex Chapter
of Painting and Decorating Contractors of America for 1976 – 1980.
Following that he was Executive Vice President of the state of New Jersey
PDCA 1980-1982. Finally he was President of the Morris-West Essex Chapter
PDCA in 1982. In addition he was licensed by the NJ Department of Health
and Senior Service as a lead paint inspector/ risk assessor in 1996.
His new project has established the Luts Paint & Specialty Bath store
in 2006 as a full service contracting and decorating bath business offering
everything necessary for complete bath renovation.
